Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Looking for a fun way to make a Christmas present all the more special?

Make it a scavenger hunt!

Your imagination is the limit - you can get as creative as you want with it!

One Christmas my handy husband wanted one of those mega air compressors.

photo from Home Depot.com

No way to wrap that and put it under the tree!  So I decided to drag out the fun a little longer by making him hunt for his gift.

I made a number of "clue" tags out of whatever supplies I could find: ribbon, scrapbooking paper, old Christmas cards, etc...and then on the back, I wrote a little poem that he had to decipher to find the next clue.

Clue #1

Clue #2

Clue #3

The final clue was written in a Christmas Card on the tree that lead him to the garage where his new air compresser was waiting for him!

He loved it!!

He still talks about how much fun it was!  Nothing makes a gift more special than knowing there was thought and love behind it!

So if you want to make Christmas more fun for someone you love this year, try turning it into a scavenger hunt

  1. OMGoodness, now THIS is really crazy! We are FAR too much alike! I read your comment yesterday on your puzzle car mag subscription and thought it was so unique how we thought so similarly...BUT then I read this post! I did the same thing before! Ahhh, scary, lol.

I bought my husband a big air compressor (from Snap On!) ;) and obviously couldn't wrap it so I did a hunt for it too with clue cards. The only differences were that it was for his birthday not Christmas and my clues were just on 3x5 index cards, not nearly as CUTE and creative as yours! Isn't that funny??

By the way, I love what you did with the puzzle. :)

  3. I remember my brother Bob did this for all of us one year (I was about 8 or 9, I think). He had his first job and bought presents for us all and had us searching the house for them...it was so much fun!
