Early fall campfires

As the temps get a little cooler...as the summer sun wanes, what better way to herald in the fall season than with evening campfires?

The September sky is such a clear, azure with endless stars visible in the night sky.  This is the perfect time of year to enjoy a backyard campfire.  Whether it's just you and your family, or you invite over a few good friends, a campfire is sure to be a welcome sight ~ especially on a brisk fallish night.

We have a very little fire pit that was given to us by my brother and sister-in-law. Surrounding it are a few resin adirondack chairs for me and my husband, and a little one for our son. Nearby is his wooden picnic table (I love it so much more than his plastic one!) which is perfect for holding our snack tray or reading a book by firelight.

We tell each other {not-so}spooky stories, stargaze and study the constellations, toast marshmallows, and unwind after the hustle and bustle of the daily grind.  It's made for wonderful family time and some terrific memories!

1st Day of Preschool

The day finally arrived - my son's 1st day of preschool!

For weeks, we've been talking about it
- practicing with him on raising his hand in class...

Over the weekend, we took him to Target to go shopping for his school supplies.
He chose a light-up Transformer backpack and lunch bag,
and he was so enthusiastic,
he wore the backpack around the entire store :)

Above: with his preschool teacher :)

This morning he was so excited waiting outside for the doors to open
that he said he wanted to bust the door down!

And he insisted I get his picture with his teacher :)

I'm so excited for him to embark on this new journey!
I can't wait for all of the stories he has to tell,
all of the new things he's going to learn.

As I'm writing this, in just a few minutes,
his first day will be over.

And I can't wait to hear all about it!!

I'm SO proud of my little guy!

Happy 1st day of school!

Happy September!

The calendar has turned the page, and here we are in
This will be a hectic month as my son starts preschool, and we prepare for his upcoming Birthday party. I'm scrambling to finish up his invitations (the invitee list continues to grow), tidy up the house and landscaping (a load of mulch is being delivered this weekend), purchase supplies, and finalize preparations. As always, I think I've bit off more than I can chew!

Ah well...what gets done, gets done, right?  The important point is to celebrate my little guy's special day! :)

Wishing all of you that have been loyal, devoted followers of Cutest Little Things a happy and fun month ahead!  I'm so thankful to be a part of this wonderful, quirky little blogging community, and I'm so grateful to have met such creative and fun people along the way.
