Pumpkins, festivals, hayrides, and farms: reasons to love fall!

What a perfect October weekend!

Just a touch chilly, which made for perfect weather for wrapping up in a cozy fall sweater and enjoying a festival outdoors!  I made my husband pull the car over so I could snap the farm photo above (I have a love of old barns!!)

If you live close enough, the Shaker Woods Christmas in the Woods Festival, is worth checking out!  Little vendor cottages tucked in the Ohio woods (which are glorious in October!) filled with artisan holiday crafts.  The smell of woodsmoke and kettle corn, the throngs of people in fall and holiday sweaters, with fall leaves crunching underfoot...so fun!
Yesterday we headed over to Yeck Farms for the afternoon and to pick up some cornstalks, pumpkins, and a haybale.   We took a very chilly hay ride around the farm, got lost in the corn maze, and enjoyed the day out in the country together.  Am I alone in my love for all things fall??

I think I almost love the soft sage green and white gourds and pumpkins more than the bright orange anymore!

Came home just in time to make my Canadian Thanksgiving dinner for my guys!  My husband chose my mile-high apple pie as his dessert choice!  We had a small stuffed turkey, cranberries, steamed broccoli, homemade dinner rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy...followed by oven-warmed apple pie a la mode with homemade cinnamon ice cream!  Delish!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

  1. Your pie looks so good Judy. I made a big apple crisp Friday night when we had some friends over. It was so yummy warm from the oven with vanilla ice cream. Your home made cinnamon ice cream sounds so good. Would you share the recipe?? Happy Thanksgiving to you, Tom, and Andrew!!!

  6. Love the way you capture fall with your camera! It's really fun watching how Andrew grows with each season. Did you get a picture of him yet in front of the growth chart at the one farm you usually visit?

And the white pumpkins!?! Be still my heart! I love them so much! I also adore cinderella pumpkins.
