We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Does your neighborhood still have ice cream trucks?  Even though as a child I was always a little leary of the ice cream truck driver (and even MORESO as an adult!) I think it's pretty awesome that a flash from my childhood is still around for my own to enjoy!

There's still something thrilling about hearing that bell or music in the distance, knowing that an icy treat is on its way!

Sure, it's cheaper to buy them from the grocery store (or make your own), but it's all about the experience(It's like going to Starbucks - you know you're overpaying for that cup of coffee, but you're paying the extra $$ for the experience of a Starbucks!)

There's the thrill of waiting your turn, unsure of what to pick!  All of the different temptations! It's overwhelming as a kid!  It's one of the few times you get to exercise your ability to buy something for yourself!  It all feels so grown-up and liberating!

And then you get to run home and enjoy your treat!

A simple joy of summertime :)

  1. We have an ice cream truck that comes around once in a blue moon. I never seem to see it but the neighborhood kids tell me all about it.

  5. The lady who drove the truck around last year looked diseased and I rarely let the kids get any - but this year we had a kindly old (clean) man who was so lovely and he's only come by once!

  6. Yep we have them...come around at least once a week here. We're such mean parents , we won't buy it for them. If they really want some, they have to purchase with their allowance. The older boys have already discovered that they'd rather save their money than buy the overpriced treat.

  10. We have one! It came by tonight in fact. But, Elijah already got ice cream today so he didn't get one tonight. But it is cool when they stand there trying to decide. Elijah usually gets the Spongebob popsicle!
