Winter's last hurrah

With the calendar having turned to March, I think we may have seen the last of winter. I've so enjoyed it!  I'll miss the fluffy, downy snow, the excitement of an impending snowstorm, the thrill of watching the Winter Olympics {was that final hockey game awesome or what?!?}, all of the fun we had playing in the snow, the family togetherness of being indoors and vacationing together at Winterlude, the tummy-warming comfort food that brings solace to the spirit during frosty winter days.

We took advantage of the snow on Friday and Saturday by having a little more winter fun...making snowcones from fresh {clean} snow and cherry syrup, building a friendly snowman in the backyard, having a snowball fight, and building a little snowfort.

As much as we've enjoyed it, we're so excited about
the arrival of spring!

I'm so ready to see flowers again,
to get my hands dirty in the garden,
to see the birds flitting about the yard,

Just think - less than three weeks to go!

  3. Judy- thanks for your comments, they made my day. Sometimes I think that no one is out there in blogland.
I wish we had snow, but since we moved to Las Vegas no such luck. And I'm not sure how I'm going to garden in the heat. But I want to have a garden again. I loved spring in Kansas and the boys loved to help in the garden (play in the dirt)
I had a couple of quick questions for you on how you decorate the your sugar cookies. Can I get your email address. My email is sueellenhafen@yahoo.com Basically -I just want to know what your secret is to perfect cookies. I have alot of detailed questions so I thought it might work better if I email you.
    thanks

  5. I'm thinking the same thing Judy. We have one little pile of snow left at the end of the driveway. None anywhere on the lawn. Spring is so close I can smell it.

Oh yes, that game was a real nail biter!!! ;0)

  7. Sorry I have been a bit awol... I had my expanders put in and now I am in the process of "growing" new breasts! I call them Hans and Franz (from the old Saturday Night Live skit). So I have Pump Me Up days. These expanders stretch the skin to make room for the implants. I'll be doing this for a couple of months. I had my first pump me up day on Friday and I have to admit, I have been sore and useless! I am so glad you got your magazine and sorry for the number mix up!

  10. I can smell it, and I can't wait for it, I am done with winter.

And yes, the game was fantastic, and I am so glad it ended the way it did ;o) Although, if it went the other way, the USA surely would have deserved it. Some of the best hockey I have seen in my life, that's for sure.
